But of course, I don’t believe in the idea of “animal rights”. First, rights are a human invention. And, as I mentioned earlier, if animals and humans are equal, then why don’t male humans randomly seek out and kill the children of other men for no reason other than they want to be the head hancho with the most babies? Males of many species will kill the offspring of other males. Not because they have to in order to survive. But because they want THEIR genes to outcompete the other male’s. The point I was trying to make is that if animals and humans are truly equal, then we have the right to do anything that an animal does, vice versa. If a lion has the equal rights that I have, than that means that I, in turn, have the equal rights a lion would have. That means I have the right to kill another animal for food.

I’m not advocating what you’re seeing in the video (torture, inhumane methods of slaughter, etc). But what I am saying is that people who make these videos often times do so to try to shock people from things like wearing leather and eatting meat. The majority of companies use an air gun to kill livestock, straight through the brain. It’s about as quick and painless a death you can give a consumable animal. They don’t stand on it’s head and skin it alive and then kick it in the ribs.

Yeah… a lot of these people are cruel, but that doesn’t mean you have to run out and become a vegan activist, either. Most people who raise animals kill them rather humanely (as humanely as death can be). It beats being eatten alive by wolves in the wild. Nature, in itself, is a cruel beast. I eat meat and will continue to do so but ugh, this bothers me. Do you know that in a lot of parts of the world, namely the US, waste food on a massive scale? To think that some animals died for nothing, or for “luxurious” reasons (aka fur) is just depressing. Kill only what you can eat and finish. Leather I can understand and wool can be replaced by cotton to a degree, but fur coats? That’s just cruel.
